Please support your local merchants to help them get through this. Mrs. Affist loves to buy from the local tofu-shops. She says there is a taste difference (although I can't tell.)

That’s right, it’s the stupid government policy that is to blame here (yet again).

It is getting very interesting.

The government is deeply indebted and refuses to slash spending, and thus can’t make room for any tax relief.

But consumers see that the yen weakness is of not merit for the overall Japanese economy.

There is a chance that the central planners decide that 10 years of failed money printing (who’d have thunk it) must have its time called, and there be a pivot back towards more sound monetary policy.

But the problem is the government is so grossly indebted.

There is no easy way out of this.

But there could be a period of time of yen strength if the central planners do decide to make for a pivot…

That would alleviate the costs of higher commodity prices globally, but only also bring in the next chapter of a different kind of pain for this sickly centrally planned economy….

This is a direct result of the intentional weakening of the yen, not the war in Ukraine. So, you have the government to thank.
