Yes they control everything, they buy advertising in news papers and TV stations months in advance so they can resell it at a higher price to advertising... They are the "Jonneys entertainment" of advertising.

Well, now that Dentsu is finally mentioned there is a chance the actual people benefiting the most from corruption will be brought to justice, not very optimistic about it but there is a chance now.

Tokyo Olympic graft case reveals how Dentsu controls Japan ad industry

The tangled web that Dentsu weaves should be a featured investigative story, not buried by Kyodo on a Sunday evening.

It is well established and known that Corruption, Bribery. and injustice will bring down even the best and strongest democracies. If Japan does NOT get a handle on it might as well not going to the voting booths or even have elections.

This whole case sounds like a repeat of the Recruit scandal from the late 1980's.

Dentsu is a well known corrupt corporation.

Would love to see them shut down or bankrupted. Won't be holding my breath though.

I'm not defending Dentsu here, but it would be fair to not ignore the fact the IOC, the Olympic is a cesspool of corrupt practices condoned behind veiled facade by people of ppower.

Sport is big and lucrative, civilisations have known this since at least from Romans time. Contemporary civilisation just think 'oh, we're so much more advanced and much less corrupt'.

I cannot agree more

And don't forget about the Dentsu employee who committed suicide because of over work and pressure at the company back in 2015. Japan was awarded the 2020 games in 2013 so you can imagine how much work was going on at the place. Time to open an investigation and ask whistleblowers to come forward.

No surprises here. Japan is not an "Open" Environment for Business - but rather a closed one, and one which controls what openings are available to others. ..... it's an Asian thing - not just isolated to Japan, but also happens in China and ... India.

Dentsu has always been fully aware that the Mandate of Heaven is conditional upon its being fully on board with whatever agenda shadowy political enablers in high places laid out for it to follow. Sup with the devil………

I don't think this is news. Most of us are not surprised.

Typically Japanese professional mindset that a head shall control the rest in a domain, creating the same pattern as medieval shogun state inside a professional branch with a political oligarchy.

Of course none of tvose in real power will ever be arrested ,ie the family clans of Abe and Co.

Dentsu got to where it is today by being the pr instrument for the Japanese government during the war and then after the war for specifically the LDP (i.e. crafting slogans to convince the public that the 1960 security treaty with the US was in the public's interest and wouldn't provoke conflict with neighboring countries), so you don't need to imagine how the government convinces the public to go along with their big money projects, i.e. the Olympics... no surprise here.

I will not be surprised if we find out that Dentsu is actually a front for the Unification Church or another Korean cult.
