I'm betting Mr Farley is wrong, will be wrong, based on track record of Ford predictions in recent years.

Battery cathode and anode supply and control will always be geopolitically focused and given China controls much of it at the moment, they won't want to give up that lead position easily.

As the transition from fossil to electric (for all things, not just cars) the geopolitical importance will be even greater, battery cathode and anode will be the new oil and gas.

IMO, green hydrogen is the only answer if 'cheap' is what Ford wants.
