Last year, the hotel in my hometown I usually stay at nearly doubled its rates from 2 years earlier, even though the local inflation rate is around 2-3%. So I stayed at a plush downtown Airbnb instead, paying a rate close to the hotel's rate of 2 years ago. C'est la vie, mate.
