Not even the Chinese would be intersted in buying this train wreck of a company.

And Samsung had a record profit. Will the last person leaving Japan Inc. behind please turn off the lights?

Fujitsu, like many Japanese exporters, blamed much of its loss on a surging yen, which makes products more expensive overseas while shrinking the relative value of foreign-earned income.

Fujitsu, among other domestic electronic giants in Japan must stop feeling ** saudade

Why are General Motors and Volkswagen more successful in China than Honda and Toyota? Why are LG and Samsung bigger in India than Panasonic and Sony? Why is IBM larger in Japan than Fujitsu is in the United States?

These should be the reasons and questions that Japan, Inc. should ask itself. Survival for many Japanese companies may depend on their ability to greatly increase overseas revenues and profits, given demographic and economic trends that suggest slower or stagnant growth in the home market.

Building a true globalized company will require many Japanese executives to think in new and unfamiliar ways about organization, marketing, and strategy. The approaches that proved successful in the past have outlived their usefulness.

While many firms exclaim they are global they are missing the true meaning. Complacency has deep roots and without change we are bound to read more stories like this. But there seems to be a lack of urgency.

Is there any major Japanese company NOT bleeding money? What's going on? And how long can this last until some ugly consequences kick in?

Yep A+b/a=a/b≡?, but Japan is still on better side compared to European or other counterparts...global economy is not good and everyone is suffering including Japan. Remember Japan is an exporting country and if global economy is not good it affects your sales naturally!

I'm not Japanese and yes I dont like clowns in Nagatacho...they should be held more or less responsible for the continous dowslide we are facing!

Amida, not all major Japanese firms are losing money!

Depending on the type of industry and market they hold the results are different but many major companies are still in good profit!

Fujitsu loss widens. Sharp posts record losses since 1975. Nintendo posts loss. Panasonic had a record loss last year Sony is, well, barely hanging by a thread. Japan needs to pack their bags and leave the consumer electronic industry, they are no longer relevant.

Because this article is talking about Fujitsu, and Japan in general, I kept to that topic, so I didn't try to drag the rest of the world's economies into this thread. Hence, I obviously did not mention them.

@A+b/a=a/b≡? {Fujitsu, like many Japanese exporters, blamed much of its loss on a surging yen, which makes products more expensive overseas while shrinking the relative value of foreign-earned income. Overseas, sales of audio and navigation systems for vehicles rose, but was offset by a drop in demand for computer servers and optical fiber transmission systems in the United States.} Well, if this article is talking about Fujitsu and Japan in general that means you are totally ignoring the paragraph above!! How do you explain the contents of this paragraph??

More or less all the industries are related to global economy my friend!

We are not friends. But, take a moment and read carefully. You are saying the same thing I am. I am just pointing out that this article is about Fujitsu. Thus, I did not talk about Europe or what you refer to as "global economy".
