Obviously the factory was doing just fine for 60 years before the EU even existed, now apparently it can't survive without it. before the EU most of the vehicles manufactured in the UK were sold there, now more than 70% of vehicles assembled in the UK are exported to the EU, so yes UK manufacturing will suffer if tariffs are introduced, most likely with factory jobs moving from the UK into the EU, which seems far more likely than not. the insane part of the whole Brexit debacle is the majority of the people that are employed in these UK car factories voted to leave the EU LOL. Just shows that many people cant see two steps in front of them, sounds very similar to another group of people across the pond in the US

@wtf

Hear, hear!

This entire Brexit debacle has certainly put the final bullet in the head of any ideas I might have had about going "home".

the government this month outlined its hopes for an agreement that would permit the "freest and most frictionless possible trade" with EU member states.

Is this part that EU is calling a unicorn fantasy?

US and Canada have managed to fully integrate their auto industries...without a single market or free movement of labor. Other regions, too, - with free trade but not single markets - are heading that way, like ASEAN.

Indeed, it was while Britain was an EC and EU member that it saw its indigenous car industry sink into decline, going from one of the world's major manufacturers to almost nothing.

@lucabrasi - well if you married any non-EU National then you wont be able to bring her to the UK unless you can prove you have a high paid job
