Another fail by Abe, no surprises there.

Most people can't leave early no matter what Friday it falls on. That's the problem.

What a stupid idea to begin with, now their reinforcing their original stupid idea! How about enforcing a 38 hour week work 40 and have a day off a month. Also maybe Saturday and Sunday's could be considered Days off. Premium Friday's just not going to work.

A company I’m familiar with told everyone why they would not be participating in Premium Friday: almost all workers are out of the office by 6:00 pm. (Except those dealing with customers west of Japan like India or Pakistan). I mean, they all go home at a reasonable hour EVERYDAY, so premium Friday makes no sense.

What an unusual concept - work not dominating your every waking minute.

a can't do country

It just shows how much the Gov. is out of touch with the working people. Ask Mr. Aso or Mr. Abe what about a normal family needs, they probably have no idea.

Besides - the ordinarly slaves...umm... I mean working people in Japan still are been forced to overwork (mostly for free), and cant leave no matter what you call that Friday.

Yep! A dumb idea just got DUMBER LOL!!!

The only way this might work would be for Japan to make the last Fri of each month a national holiday LOL!!!

What is next, insane!

A friend of mine, working in a large hospital, told me that staff had been encouraged not to bring in lunch from home, but to go out to local establishments to “help the economy”.

Bluster, waffling, bluster, waffling. The politics of the Abe government.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

lol, he shoots, he misses, they vote him in anyway.

you mean having people go home early at the one time every month people need to work most didnt work? wow shocker.

how about forcing companies to let employees use their paid holidays? thats all you need to do

1 ( +2 / -1 )

it has been questioned whether people can finish work earlier at the end of the month as that is typically a busy time for businesses

When I worked in a company the end of the month had no particular significance at all. I suggest that whenever the day is set the companies would still be "too busy" to participate, because everyone knows that all Japanese are busy all of the time. At least that's what they tell you.

Yeah our company said immediately we wouldn’t be doing Premium Friday. As long as you have clients, it sort of depends on them..

all you have to do is make it manditory to pay out unused holidays, the companies will naturally promote vacation usage in a way that makes sense for the company.

Would be much better if the Govt focused more upon their own efficiency and perhaps extended the working time for their Employees rather than have them all go home at 5 pm daily.

The Japanese work very hard to be only 66% as productive as their G7 counterparts.

PF is a waste of time, you can get the best bargains on the internet and we know you can search those 24/7.
