Let Hollywood and the rest of California’s “Rich” ‘eat each other alive’ in competition for the diminished labour force. (You’ll welcome both ‘documented and undocumented immigrants and migrants now, won’t you?) Both of these played/play their parts as well:

Previous Pres dictated: “Build a wall!” and separated children & families.

While, the Present VPres declares “DO NOT COME.”

Doesn’t mention the resulting mass migration and real estate sales boom in “No State Income Tax” Texas:

- “California’s population dropped by 182,000 last yr as the pandemic ravaged the economy, scattering workers around the country, many businesses closed. Some workers are lingering fear or frayed nerves after struggling through on-and-off lockdowns, home isolation and shifting health regulations.”

Recently ‘Smiling & Smirking’ Cali Gov. Gavin Newsom, responsible for all of the above, destroyed lives and livelihoods. Why ever would they return to such volatility?

All these stories make me think that the euphoria about the booming economy and all is just smoke and mirrors. I feel bad times coming, not helped by profligacy at the Federal level and lack of foresight at the Federal Reserve.

During my college breaks, I was a waiter at a bayside restaurant in Newport Beach - we had our own slip. Drunk women would slip dollars into my shorts. It was a good gig but no way to make a permanent living.

The fix for any labor shortage is... pay more.

But... many people have taken the time to find better jobs. They also took the time to get more education... and find better jobs. Many people, and households, cut their spending back to the necessities and found out they no longer need a second job. And some actually saved money by no longer having to pay for $1000 a month daycare. (and that's the CHEAPEST daycare) And most people are just fed up with crap jobs at low pay. So they... found other jobs or stayed home.

So here is the answer for everyone who said, "Don't like your job? Get a better one." Done.

The government money? That just helped people find better jobs. I now know hundreds of people and nobody I know isn't working or looking for, and finding, a better job.

Nah, as some people leave California, that just leaves opportunity for others to come in. And being one of the most desirable places to live in America, they'll keep coming.

Deciding the future is going to be like a pandemic blip only shows an inability to recognize aberrations.

Illegals and?

If you have buckets of money, can hire the best private security, and live away from the homelessness and stench and growing crime, I guess so.

That's America in a nutshell mate.

Mass shootings daily. No one is safe outside their compounds.

Sorry but this is a good news story. They are forced to pay workers more, maybe even close on weekends, scale down their ridiculous numbers. Could be a result of the death toll or that they found more meaningful work, which is good for them.

llegals and?

The largest single source of new residents coming to California is the state of New York. Not Mexico or any other place.

When I visited San Francisco about four years ago, it all became apparent.

There was a massive protest in the streets and it was because people are forced to have TWO jobs because it’s so expensive to live there, there is no one to SERVE them!

“No State Income Tax” Texas:

Texas taxes real estate at anywhere from 2% to 2 1/2% of assessed value, and your tax bill can increase each year in step with increases in the value of your property. California taxes real estate at 1% of assessed value and because of Prop 13, your assessed value upon which your taxes are based cannot rise more than 2% per year regardless of how much the market value increases. As a result, the effective property tax rate on California real estate is 0.7% of assessed value, the lowest in the nation. In addition California does not impose sales taxes on labor, services or rent. Because the state income tax is so progressive most taxpayers pay very little. In terms of overall tax burden California is within less than 1% of the average among the 50 states.

And even after that rant, the mass exodus out of that hellhole which used to be once long ago a fantastic State continues, the standard of living has gone down, crime up, CRT indoctrination, PC gone amok, wokeness is being shoved down everyone's throats, schools are horrible, the homeless crisis is worsening day by day, the standard of living and basic daily necessities through the roof, people can't leave that State fast enough. No decent hardworking American needs that garbage. It's just going to get harder for these employers to find good work and the majority of illegals they let in the country have zero or no real marketable skills, so expect the problems to mount.

Just me but ten or twenty million people could leave CA and I would be just fine with that. The problems you mention are because just in my own lifetime the state's population has more than doubled. The amount of land and the necessary resources haven't doubled. Too many people. So go, pack your trash and leave. Leave some elbow room for those of us who are native and want to keep living here. I've lived lots of other places and learned the grass always looks greener until you find out what it's fertilized with.

Sigh. Not at all. Like anyplace there are places that are dangerous but they are not the majority of places. I've been shot at on occasion, once driving a loaded school bus gunshots blew out two windows showing a little girl with glass (the other affected window was right behind my head !) and another time I collected a bullet in the quarter panel of my car (didn't hear it hit but discovered a tail light shot out when I got home) but those occasions are rare. I don't spend life holed up afraid to go out worrying I might get shot.

Sunny Broke Californai! Here you have a state which has the 3rd largest economy of the world. You also have a state with the HIGHEST FEDERAL and STATE TAXES. You have a state that has a 76 Billion dollar surplus. With that said you also have a state that has taxed its citizen to death and has created the biggest homeless and jobless situation in the country. Who wants a restaurant job that pays $15.00 per hour when your rent is on average $1700.00 per month for a one bed room apartment in a crime ridden neighborhood. The safer the neighborhood the price goes up as high as 3 to 5K. Believe it or not the governor and the country know their is a problem, large corporations have not increased the salaries in commensurate with the rising economy. Look at AMAZON for instance the type of demanding work they ask for is not worth the pay. Again a hamburger meal is $10.00 and this again was brought on by increased immigration which in turn increased homelessness. New immigrants from south america doesn't care about the cheap rents and the crime because as I was told its safer than where they came from. Now that many have come here and had jobs in the restaurant, hotel business as cooks and maids they no longer want these jobs because America has spoon fed them. They along with the less educated americans don't want to work for the wages especially when the government will pay them more money monthly than the average working minimum wage. With that said the cost of everything goes up, housing, food, medicare you name it. You can only put so much water in a glass from a running tap before you realize it is flowing up and now you have to turn off the tap and clean the water up. This is what america is trying to do, but it will not work. They have no control over their borders and they continue to get a steady stream of illegals who will fill these jobs. Stories like this only gives the illusion that people are not working and gives justification to continue to allow illegals to come in to fill these jobs!! All the while they are paying people more than minimum wage to not work!! Good Old America!!! THe government will never go broke as long as they have people to pay the taxes!!! We are the best selling product they have!!!
