Honda Motor Corp on Thursday announced it will release a new Accord and Accord Tourer models for the Japanese market from Friday.

The renewed models feature advanced safety features such as side curtain airbags and Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) as standard equipment.

The renewed Accord models target upper-middle class couples in their 40-50s, according to the company. Accord Tourer, which is a renamed wagon-type Accord, is aimed for long-distance driving. The company expects 1,000 unit sales a month, and the price range is 2,700,000 to 4,100,000 yen.

That's a good news for potential buyers, but the sad news is even Honda is releasing hundreds of part-time workers and breaking job-accord with newly hired.

Who will buy this expensive new accord? 1000 unit sales a month is a very big target in Japan. If Honda successfully sales 500 units, it means Japanese are not worrying about this recession.

"Who will buy this expensive new Accord?"

Anyone who can put off buying their house or manshon for a couple of years. That's what I'd do.
