Hong Kong is not what it was ten years ago. The freewheeling days of the past are over for good. Hong Kong is just another big communist Chinese city with all that implies. No personal freedom, censored press, no say in the politics of the city unless you are willing to sell your soul to the CCP like Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor (Carrie Lam) did.

With Beijing national security law in place, who would want to move there ?

While Hong Kong had freedom, it was a financial hub to rivil other hubs.

Now it has fallen down the financial hub list due interference from main land China.

It is not likely to recover from that.

It has nothing to do with Covid and everything to do with personal freedom and censorship. You can get arrested in HK for criticizing the government. It's also getting dirtier. Not as clean as it was when a British colony.

It isn't COVID, stupid. It is Beijing and the lack of democratic freedoms and censoring.

I will miss visiting HKG. We aren't going back until Beijing is out and stops meddling.

As all the above posters have mentioned, the ccp is controlling what happens in Hong Kong.

When you lose your right to express, the right to choose elected officials and your freedom, no-one is going to stick around much longer.

Many of my associates' companies have moved most of their main dealings to Singapore.

Hong Kong, unfortunately is not what it used to be especially in the past 5 years.

By China taking over and oppressing Hong Kong, the city lost all of its value. Everyone who could afford to left the city, it’s really sad. The remaining Hong Kongers are repulsed by China and all the mainlanders that come into the city.
