Ridiculous stupidity.

The top "business" news of the day ladies and gentlemen.

I usually use dry ice packs (to keep the dog cool). But I think it's easier to walk my dog if we have this fan," said Mami Kumamoto, 48, owner of a miniature poodle named Pudding and a terrier named Maco.

If you walk your dog, during the day, in this heat, in Tokyo, you should be arrested for animal abuse! Particularly for such a small breed, that is low to the ground.

IF you do it early in the morning, or walk them in a park, specifically on the grass, it is a different story, but during the daytime, on hot asphalt or concrete streets, is a HUGE no-no.

Fan, ice-packs or otherwise, you will burn their paws!

Before you take your dog out, put your bare hand on the ground. If it feels hot to you, it feels at least as hot to the dog.

If you love your dog, get up early and take him out before the temperature starts to rise. Take water with you, and keep the walk short.

If you feel he isn't getting enough exercise, play with him indoors.

I have never had a cat that liked to have clothing on including the 2 I have now. They immediately panic and try to paw them off.

When anthropologists look for the straw that broke the ecological camel's back...

They should look at the design of house in the US. With central heat and AC and hundreds of gadget and tons of clothes.

They are not dogs they are domesticated rats. When my dog is hot, he just jumps in a small river, lake or the sea. He also pulls me into public toilets to drink the water in the hand basin.

Yes sir, you can sell anything to the Japanese all you need to do is to get an idol to touch it.

@Rodney That says a lot about the dog and who is the master!!

Stupidity. I walk my dog twice a day and just poor a 2l bottle of water over him as we leave. Job done.

The irony:

All these new gadgets to keep cool (handheld fans, puffer jackets with fans it....) while obviously contributing to e-waste mountains, all have a hefty carbon footprint that will further accelerate the climate crisis.

That cat looks pretty ticked off!

Just sellotape a block of ice to its back.

Pet accessories are one of the top selling markets in Japan.

Pro tip from financially intolerant me. Take old pair of socks and make booties for the pet's paws so the pads don't burn on asphalt and concrete. Cheap and kitty or doggy will love you even more.

Right kind of diet is also needed, I believe. I'm not suggesting 'water-fasting' yet a very modest diet would also help the species with no sweat glands on their body. Namely, lots and lots of water and simple things easy to digest would be meaningful.

We get cool thanks to the energy it takes to vaporize sweat... wouldn't blowing (hot) air on an animal without sweat glands just make it hotter? By contrast, giving Fido a shower before a walk simulates sweat...and no need for batteries.

That cats face says it all.

"Laugh at me again and say kawaii and I'll Cut you!" ;)

Just stick an ice lolly up its . . . Nevermind

Is that a bird on the cats head?

Cat looks angry

Mindless, selfish humans. Completely unnatural and solely for the benefit of the owner. This mentally is what makes it harder and harder to feel at ease living in this kind of society. It’s embarrassing

My shiba mix approves this message too! My food provider ensures that we only walk on grass, and that the parks we frequent have water spots available for both humans and us too!

My big sister human, also loves me so much, that she provides me with shoes or sandals, to protect my paws if by chance we have to walk somewhere it's hot. My dad always takes me out before the sun rises!

@readyfortakeoff

gadgets in the American home is the least of our problems- it’s trucks and cars - most of which are Toyota !

Until we reduce carbon extraction and oxidation green house effects will multiply!

Sure the Prius was a start, but wildly expensive for what it is!

We are now at 417ppm CO2, and the surface temperature of the sea is rising, which means the land doesn’t cool down as much, particularly on crowded little islands like JAPAN !

The Most dangerous fad for pets, that I can imagine....

A fan delivers a limited amount of airflow to a fixed point, yet around it, you have a bandage which even though perforated stretches across the body of the animal its attached to, and by nature increases heat localization.

Animals have survived without such devices for a long time, why add them now artificially and unnecessarily...
