IHI consortium wins order to build thermal power plants in Taiwan

IHI Corp, CTCI Corp, Sumitomo Corp and Toshiba Corp have been jointly awarded from Taiwan Power Company (Taipower) the contract for engineering, procurement and construction of two power generating units at Talin Thermal Power Plant to replace existing facilities at the plant.

Commercial operation dates are scheduled in 2016 for Unit 1 and 2017 for Unit 2.

Part of the existing power generating units will be demolished and replaced with two ultra-supercritical pressure coal fired boilers which output is 800MW each at the plant located in Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan.

IHI will be responsible for supplying boilers and for technical and commercial leadership of the consortium. Sumitomo will be responsible for civil and installation work of steam turbines, generators and other auxiliary equipment supplied by Toshiba. CTCI will be responsible for supplying the balance of plant and executing civil and installation work for boilers and the balance of plant.

Congratulations to all engineers of IHI. It was my honor to work with them 40 yrs ago. All engineers were great and I am very confident that they will do a best job for this project. Gambatte Kudasai!!
