An average meal for 10 this year -- including turkey, stuffing, peas, sweet potatoes, cranberries, carrots, rolls and pumpkin pie -- will cost $64.05, or 20 percent more than in 2021, the Farm Bureau said.

I can understand the dilemma. But $64.05 for a dinner with all those items for ten people is NOT expensive.

And while some prices have eased in recent months, consumers say they are straining to handle their grocery bills -- a tough blow at the holidays.

This must be due to Biden's socialist policies! Capitalism would never have bread lines and depression food strategies!

Probably we need corporate tax cuts and subsidies to energize the job creators.

That's what happens when you have an incompetent president who thinks the economy is doing great.

Give your thanks to your ancestors who went days without food in their bellies. Hard times happen to all.

That's what happens when you have an incompetent president who is told to flat lie to peoples faces the economy is doing great. - fixed for you.

Imagine these prices under other presidents. People would be calling for impeachment.

The role of fighting inflation is mainly the job of the Fed. The govt is limited in its measures. The Fed is the one with the tools. The current Fed chief was appointed by Trump, who fired Yellen, who had been successfully and skillfully keeping a lid on prices. She was appointed by Obama.

Anyway, the rest of the US economy is doing quite well, better than Japan and Europe. Russia and China are overwhelmingly responsible for the global supply crunch that is driving up food and energy prices.

nope they tried that in 2017 with a $trillion tax cut for the rich, did very little in terms of job creation, nearly all of it went to share buybacks and an inflated stock market, will end up costing around 1.5 trillion over 10yrs. Trickle down economics hasnt worked since Reagan, just another GOP conjob

Ask guests to contribute to the cost of the meal. $10 each should cover it.

Many of my American family are vegetarians/vegans who don't eat the traditional Thanksgiving. We will be eating fish.

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it.

Turkey costs 21 percent more in the United States than it did last year, according to the American Farm Bureau.

Incredibly high increase.

Interesting facts from 2018:

"$21.71 -- This year's average cost for a 16-pound turkey in the United States, down 3% from 2017 and the lowest since 2014, according to the American Farm Bureau Federation's most recent annual survey.

$48.90 -- The average cost this year to serve 10 people a Thanksgiving feast, a 22-cent decrease from last year."

But you aren't celebrating Thanksgiving, so eating fish is irrelevant,

It’s what liberals just voted for, continuing Bidenflation.

Well, you don't actually know what we do.

We celebrate Thanksgiving every year. Previously, for many years we would travel to our American family and celebrate with them.

Since the death of my parents, we haven't done that. So we celebrate at home.

Today is fish and it's relevant to us.

I don’t know if these numbers are correct but $64.04 for 10 people is less than $7 a head. If you can’t afford that you’re not going to be able to afford thanksgiving under any administration. And stuffing mix? Just use the stale bread in your cabinet that you would end up throwing out anyway. Tastes better too.

wait mister president said that USA is doing very best under his leadership so I dont understand this worry abt price of turkey?

remember Maria Antoinetta?when she have heard that people cant eat bread?her answer was-why dont you eat cakes than!

dont eat turkeys dears americans, eat some veggies say carrots, good for your health and for global warming.../irony off/

wrong its worldwide inflation, clearly Americans are far more worried about the GOP attack on democracy, otherwise that red wave would have swept Amercia, but it didnt. keep running on gas prices while attacking democracy and youll lose again in 2024.

I thought about getting a small piece of ham for tomorrow. Pieces the size of my fist were $24-$30.

I keep hearing this “Bidenflation” thing. I wish someone would explain what the administration should do. Tell companies to stop raising prices? Tell oil companies to stop raising prices?

If you’re that smart and know what to do, why aren’t you in Washington?

Traditions are not such a high priority when the pockets are empty, many American families have much more serious problems than not being able to celebrate Thanksgiving properly, even feeling there is no thanks to give on this year.

We had a Thanksgiving dinner in Japan for four. Skipped Turkey (partly because of price) and had chicken instead. But we had biscuits and gravy and pecan pie! My wife could make anyone cry over her pecan pie.

Americans could do with smaller portions. So much food waste from their enormous portions.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Judging by the recent midterms, Americans love their President Biden, think he is wonderful and are happy with open borders, high crime and of course high inflation. They don't care about high priced Thanksgiving turkeys, it's what they want. I saw on cnn interviews with democrats where they were saying Biden is the best President of all time and that inflation doesn't exist. Thus no worries here for Thanksgiving costs.

with all these cutbacks hopefully we wont be getting any black friday stampede victims this year...

I wish someone would explain what the administration should do.

Stop what they are doing. that caused it to almost immediately go up from the under 2% it was when the big guy showed up?

its not any coincidence, look at the chart.

are you accusing thieves of only being democrats and now do you know if they even vote? Most white collar crime is committed by Republicans on Wall St.

so if they steal food, they are democrats and thieves. But if they steal a million they are Republicans and heroes.

"It's too expensive, too expensive," the 70-year-old White, a resident of East Harlem, says of the traditional holiday bird.

There is another factor in Biden's America responsible for Thanksgiving related inflation and that is the woke, cultural Marxist War on Thanksgiving.

https://therecount.com/watch/fox-business-desperately-trying-to/2645887389

The woke Biden agenda of communist wealth redistribution and and woke education is forcing business leaders to spend more and more on politicians that highlight and oppose this agenda, like Youngkin and DeSantis.

They are struggling to oppose woke educators teaching the Pilgrims massacred the Native Americans after the Thanksgiving bounty was shared with them. To oppose this crazy woke history requires so many precious seed capital resources from leaders of American business costs are inflating across the board, including politicians and turkeys.

Things may change, including inflation, once the House Republicans turn the tide on the course of government.

The national average assumes a holiday meal will include a 16-pound turkey, at $33.31

Yeah and some guy here claims Turkey is 49 cents a pound.

I agree, my 3 kilo stuffed Turkey breast last Christmas cost nearly that. This year we may not get Turkey due to the bird flue outbreaks and the consequent culls making it scares and expensive.

Trump never said "a small incursion into Ukraine is okay."

Biden did.

This surprised me, so I checked.

Biden's actual words;

Russia will be held accountable if it invades. And it depends on what it does. It's one thing if it's a minor incursion and then we end up having a fight about what to do and not do.

That is not the same as 'a small incursion is OK'. He's obviously making a distinction between an invasion (=NATO will hold Russia accountable) and action that stops short of an actual boots-on-the-ground invasion (=NATO members are not agreed on what their reaction should be).

The White House later clarified that Biden was talking about action short of military aggression, such as cyberattacks.

Granted, talk of incursions was not a good choice of words and not very clever, but Biden did not say that it would 'be OK'.

The US concept/meaning of "Thanksgiving" has become lost over time.
