With the global maritime industry moving rapidly towards using green hydrogen to power ocean going ships using existing internal combustion engines converted to burn hydrogen, there won't be a problem with fuel availability. The Nordic states are building the pilot plants to produce hydrogen using only wind, solar and hydro power and scaling production so that production can occur when energy is available. Basically make hay while the sun shines, only applied to producing green hydrogen. Such ships will be at sea earning their owners revenue by the end of this decade. This technology can be applied to ground vehicles and should be.
