Big oil and big bucks. Want more customers, then give them a free lottery scratch off with every fill up...

The flaw in this analysis is that it ignores the many electric vehicle owners who will be able to charge their vehicles at home or perhaps at their office parking lot [it could become a perquisite to attract talented employees] or even the local shopping mall. Right now, the oil companies have a monopoly on the distribution of petrol, so we all HAVE to stop at a filling station at some point. If I can recharge my automobile at home each evening, why would I ever need to stop at a filling station - as compared with a normal convenience store or supermarket?
There is one new house on the next block where they have a charging station for their electric vehicle. In time, new houses will come standard with these.
