This has been the way it worked the last 30 yrs, at least in technology fields. But money isn't everything. Interesting, important work kept me at positions for a few extra years, even with deficient pay. Eventually, money did force a change, however.

Silvafan, you understand that this is from govt data which specifically asks about ethnicity in an attempt to recognize rasism ASAP in a workplace.
Is your complaint with how it is being reported or that Latinos got the largest raises in 2016?
African American is a poor term. I've met many "African Americans" who were from Africa, but live in American by choice, with their pale skin. Born in Africa, permanently living in America. Some are of Asian-Indian descent, so they have the darker skin, but were born in Africa (Zimbabwe) and emigrated to the USA. They are also "African-Americans."
