This is simply JAL trying to remain relevant and solvent despite having dropped the ball long ago. China already has trade routes established. Anything JAL does will be redundant and overpriced.

You are poorly informed @Marc Lowe.

Why not give it a try, as growing markets needs logistical support!

Good job JAL. Great airline with great service. The only one I fly back home and back. They are gonna rock the freight business.

I had no idea that JAL had stopped their cargo service. I used to work for an international freight forwarding compay back in the 90s and used JAL cargo regularly.

If they have been using only passenger planes for cargo delivery, that would've only allow for a very small amount of small-sized cargo.

I can't believe they've been out of the cargo game for 14 years, especially with the huge demand for freight services fueled by Amazon and other online shopping companies.

All airlines carry cargo. This plane is an old 767 coverted to a non passenger aircraft. Seems difficult for some of the arm chair experts here to figure out the point of the article.

Bad move admid growing tensions in East Asia? And probably a good too many years too late.

That is surely a no-brainer, to pick up some bread crumbs in that emerging market segment, especially when considering that the usually cheaper container ship routes are now severely 'damaged' by the Huthi tribe in Yemen (and maybe some other copycats out there) and this very costly situation won't become better anytime soon.
