Apparently, it will take some time before we can get really accustomed to EVs. That's a necessity to make them more convenient for everybody.

Regardless of what the battery tech is, what kind of wiring would you need to fill a car battery in fifteen minutes? Even at 400V that's going to be a huge current, the equivalent of dozens of houses' of power just to fill up one car. This means laying or dangling masses of new copper just for people to fast-charge their cars. I wonder if anyone has ever done the sums for this to happen nationwide.

I doubt if anyone here has. There's more to EV's than the batteries and even the vehicles themselves.

The problem is that geniuses can't see for forest for the trees.

EV's are not all unicorns and rainbows.

Plans going in is rarely what comes out at the end.

The all-solid-state battery is stable enough to be used in pacemakers. When finished, it will be about half the size of the current battery and fully charge in 15 minutes, instead of a few hours.

It would be nice if it was true, but much to early to say anything with certainty. These claims are made to ensure funding and to lure others onboard to spread costs around.

We may end up with a battery 10-20% lighter and one that is 90% charged in 20-30 mins. A not insignificant improvement but well off the original "plans".

Sounds like there are challenges, but immense potential for good.

2028...

Besides, I'm also never looking at Nissan after their behavior.

I like some of their cars, and they have many good engineers, but a company run by gangsters will not get my business as long as there are alternatives.

Nissan will never get my business-never!

no need to give support and trust to a dirty company that treats a foreign president like a cleanex after 20 years of good service.

Mocheake,

Yes, the tech has already been invented by a Japanese researcher and former Nissan engineer. It uses Resin and is 25x more compact/lighter so essentially it could allow the cars to drive further/faster.

So, what this article is saying is that Nissan, along with NASA and UCSD, is planning a game-changing electric-car battery. Now I got it.
