I for one am glad that the postal system went private here. Service has improved 10 fold and operating hours at the main post offices is now 24/7.
The people who work there are FINALLY learning what it means to have to work for a living, instead of being koumuin.

Privatization almost always improves prices and service.

Fujisawa Japan Post has gone totally the opposite directions. Almost every counter face is grey-haired and the service has sadly, deteriorated! And Japan Post calibration of charges is complex even to their own staff!

Privatisation of postal services always means: increase prices, reduce service and staff plus closure of remote post offices. Of corse salaries for senior managers go up 10% a year.
Postal service must remain a public service to ensure a nationwide service. Private want to concentrate on big cities and not on Hokkaido or small islands.

You're making the elementary error of concentrating on the plebs who actually need the services.
Think about the ideology and the profits for those at the top.
Remember the heady days of "no such thing as society" and "greed is good".
Do this, and I'm sure you'll realise the error of your socialist viewpoint.
