I watched it on BBC live this morning (last night GMT). An interview with two old dears gushing over how this was what they'd always wanted, sovereignty! the interviewer asked them what they meant, they said freedom from EU laws, the UK could now make its own laws and not be ruled from Brussels. Specifically which EU laws did they object to, the interviewer asked. Both ladies were reduced to staring wide-eyed and flapping their lips like a pair of goldfish.

The UK is in Europe. Why be happy about being free to trade with Australia or Japan? Did anyone study geography at school? Why free yourself from doing business with your neighbours to go and trade with countries on the other side of the world.? And just one more question - just what exactly does the UK have to trade? We sold off all of our professional trades. It's a service industry nation.

Trading goods with other continents and, working at so different times, it's totally different logistics.

Getting a delivery by truck ( 1/2 day to 2 days max over EU), versus intercontinental airfreight (3 days mini door to door if you pay a fortune, 10 days if you pay 4 times the freight of the truck), or boat (months, costs at least twice the truck)...

So far, if London needs something, they can call Paris or Roma or Frankfurt or ... during their office/shop/factory hours : "Hey, breakdown, we need Z for tomorrow...-We don't have Z on shelves...we have X, we can cut...-It's perfect. -OK, you get tomorrow morning.." ". But if they call Toronto, Tokyo or Auckland, in the middle of their night...

So either they get back to same agreement with EU... or UK is no longer doing premium Just In Time industry (no more car industry, aeronautics, etc).

My estimation is within this year they will renew 90% or more of trade, industry, produce, pharmacy agreements with EU. Other way, they would get crazy disruptions or price hikes.

And the deals they'll get will be less advantageous. So when they'll see the product made in Canada is sold cheaper to EU than to UK, they'll order via EU.

This is a wonderful step forward in the battle to stop the attempt of socalists and their supporters from trying to impose their rule on the world. No, sadly any deal is very unlikely to happen soon, especially since the EU has handed Spain the task of ultimate approver for any deal - this is significant, since Spain has an ongoing dispute with the UK over Gibraltar, and want it back (even it the local Residents don't want that), so unless Spain gets Gibraltar, it's very unlikely any form of deal will happen.

The EU is really showing how Childish it is, first they used Ireland to cause a block on Brexit, now Spain on any form of agreement. This is yet another example of how dysfunctional Europe has become.
