“Purely Japanese”…

That’s so stupid that it’s not just anti Korean but also anti Japanese and against the beautiful diversity and openness many people have been cultivating in this country.

I would like to offer Mr Yoshida a free DNA analysis to track back his genetic code and discover at least one drop of “foreign blood” in his own. That is usually enough for people like him to feel impure.

"Pure Japanese"

You want to trade with foreign countries, export and import but still discriminate?Well, let's see where that will get you.Make your own bed and sleep in it.

3 ( +14 / -11 )

The guy is without question "a pure idiot".

Mr. Yoshida's complaint was that Japan's models and actors are mostly Zainichi and ethnic Japanese models and actors were rare as unicorn. If true, one must wonder why that's the case.

Anyhow, Yoshida's conduct is unacceptable and Moomin cut ties with DHC last month because of Yoshida's racist statements.

Moomin Brand Cuts Ties with DHC Mid-Collab in the Name of Diversity

"Neither the Moomin Characters brand in their home country nor in Japan will tolerate discrimination of any kind. This was a lack of knowledge on our part. I deeply apologize for any discomfort we have caused our fans."

In April 2021, in response to an interview from NHK on their racist statement, DHC claimed that most media companies in Japan including NHK who frames DHC as "racist" is ruled by people of Korean lineage, and Koreans are not minority in Japan. DHC also referred to NHK, a statutory corporation of Japan, as an enemy of the state.

I was trying to look up if this chief executive was still holding his position at DHC and found this... turns out this entire organisation is idiotic. I'm glad they made it easy for me to decide to never buy their product.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

This made me laugh. DHC is not somehow a super dominant player in South Korea in the cosmetics field. That's not to say they're somehow small, but look at what brands dominate the cosmetics market in South Korea. Apart from a few really big foreign ones, they tend to be local companies.

If they really pull out of the market, they're only hurting themselves. They're just playing the aggrieved child, that's all.

@Robert Cikki

If they really pull out of the market, they're only hurting themselves. T

DHC's business model in Korea was not sustainable; there is a break-even point that every business must reach after certain time period, and DHC fell back to loss-making in Korea thanks to racist rants of Yoshida-san.

If you can't reach the break-even point and continue to bleed cash, then the only decision any sane business can make is to withdraw.

In May, DHC deleted Yoshida's message from the Japanese website amid mounting criticism both in South Korea and Japan.

It is rather unfortunate as usual, that this article is lacking in details like whether DHC is a public listed company or not and if it is, what are the shareholders saying and whether the said Yoshida is still CEO and if he is what reprimand did he get for great damage he caused the company image, brand image and sales.

Japan is descended from Korea and China, so the Japanese always have either Chinese or Korean blood. Japan was literally attached to the Korean peninsula and China during the very prehistoric period. It is also undeniable that Baekje literally built ancient Japan.

If anything, Japan and Korea should become well with each other. However, the US keeps putting Japanese fascists and Korean Moonies in charge, so both countries eternally fight each other for the profits of American defense contractors.

i'm tired of all the labelling non-sense i.e. "pure Japanese" ,"half breeds", etc... We are all human beings period! If more ppl can think like this then maybe we eliminate discrimination!

Japanese nationalists will not be happy to hear about that.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Not sure if it's actually true, but I once read that people in Europe can have about a 10% difference in biological ancestry, while the difference between China, Korea and Japan was something around 1%.

I told my wife, who is Zainichi Korean, what he said. She actually thought it was funny. Not because what he said was funny, but how easily it can be for people/idiots to show their true colors here.

You can easily research that for yourself.

Good move by DHC.

I'll be buying more of their products from now on.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

South Korean products are 100% better and more reasonably priced anyway, so no loss for Koreans.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Bah, cosmetics, makeup, who cares?

@Iron Lad

Bah, cosmetics, makeup, who cares?

Strangely enough, cosmetics and makeup are considered the barometer of a country's soft power, as it is the image of a brand's origin country that consumers are buying.

Bah, cosmetics, makeup, who cares?

The Global Cosmetics Marketshare was $380.2 billion in 2019, and is projected to reach $463.5 billion by 2027. Apparently quite a vast percentage of the world cares.

Good for you. You don't need any raw and intermediate materials from Japan or to disguise them as 100% Korean product by inducing Japanese makers into South Korea to produce 100% Korean products.

So please do stop stealing, at least, Japanese fruits as if they are 100% Korean brands, if you happen to know what the fairness stands for

3 ( +4 / -1 )

South Korean products are CHEAP. That's all.

Not for me, I am not a woman so I don't give much weight to makeup.

Japanese nationalists will not be happy to hear about that.

World-wide blood-preservationists will not be happy to hear you all are descended from African Continent.

So what? That doesn't entitle current China and Korea to tell Japan what to do.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Every human everywhere, without exception is descended from people who originated in Africa. Concepts of “pure blood/genetics/ethnicity” are wholly unfounded and fallacious. Those who espouse them are merely demonstrating their ignorance.

Why we cannot live in peace???

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Obviously no loss to SK, since they're boycotting it anyway. Big loss to Japan, though, and hopefully they learn from this and morons like Yoshida are not allowed to be CEO. However, based on the knee-jerk reactions from some commenters on here already, they won't see the light.

KennyG: "South Korean products are CHEAP. That's all."

Is that why the entire nation was using BB Cream for a number of years here, and still use a lot of Korean cosmetics, with half the youth adopting K-pop styles?

"Good for you. You don't need any raw and intermediate materials from Japan or to disguise them as 100% Korean product by inducing Japanese makers into South Korea to produce 100% Korean products."

Dude, WHAT are you talking about? Japan does not export raw materials, it is almost an entirely export nation, IMPORTING raw materials to make products. What's more, half the time Korean companies produce products that sell here through local branches Japanese think they are domestic, like Lotte products, simply renamed "Koala no machi" or something like that for domestic sales. Hell, even Line and Kakao Talk's parent company is Korean, with Line Corporation literally coming from root compare Hangame Japan, a South Korean company which opened branches here.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

More anti-Japan garbage,

One mistake from a Japanese company =end of your market share in S. Korea. Boycotts, attacks, closing stores.

It's gotten so bad in S. Korea, Japanese companies have been boycott just because their Japanese. You don't want to say anything wrong, as long as your a Japanese company you will be a target.

Japanese beer has been boycott in S. Korea.

Japanese cars.

Japanese clothes.

Anime, Food, electronics, video games nothing is safe in S. Korea if your a Japanese company.

Please stop investing in this country. Risk is too high and not worth it. We should return the favor in Japan towards Korean companies.

There seem to be so many different BB creams and you're referring to which one? Lol. one from Shiseido?

And what? Lotte? How old are you?Yeah. That is a good one. Probably as good as Kappa Ebisen in South Korea. Did you enjoy Marukame Udon or the one completely Pachimon version in Seoul?

For your note, (raw) materials in the light of South Korean industrial structure and major exporting goods do not mean natural resource but (subject) matters indispensable for production including parts which South Korea has been desperate to induce Japanese Cos like Morita Chemical or Daikin to move production within South Korea to produce there. 100% Korean-made campaign has been failing from the beginning. Get the facts right!

I bet the chief executive would love a night with Rora even though she's not a pure blood

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Let's not forget that Samsung refuses to use their name on Galaxy phones because Japanese will realise they are Korean.
