February’s trade surplus of 32.9 billion yen, the first in five months

only that much? far less Noda govt's extra budgets every few months.

Still better than 85% of the industrialized world, which are running current defecits. However you have fingered an essential problem and that is, unlike the US, which has a tax base problem, or Europe, which has a credit problem, the Japanese government is still spending as if we're living in the halcyon days of the bubble, when the Japanese economy was generating untold riches for the public purse.

The Japanese government and people are addicted to public spending and until that habit is cured........

Stinks for Japans corps, a real punch in the face for exports. The greedy old men in Japan that run the country. They want to accumulate more and more money.

The more Japan strengthened their Currency, the more the economy stagnate. Go back to your drawing board and research why the US currency is weak in Japan but strong in other asian countries. Is USA behind this? hehehehe.

It seems to me that the strong yen may bring good effects to car makers when it comes to natural resources like steel, coal, and other metals. Furthermore, assuming that nuclear power plants will be under stress test for time being, the strong yen should help Japanese companies run factories with reasonable electricity cost.

Where does all of the money go? I wonder if the pension premiums should be raised or the payouts lowered as money is taken out of the general fund for this now...
