November department store sales down 6% on higher consumption tax

Can some of this be attributed to online sales such as to Amazon?

I would think so. Talked with a few friends in Japan and they were more excited about using Amazon than me.

Spend money and get points...comical!

If they hold massive sales before the consumption tax rise, and everyone buys everything they need at sale prices . . . . . of course the numbers will be down the following months!
