Ummm, where are all the Abenomics detractors? Sure is quiet…!

Indeed, Hunter. The clear majority of posters on this forum have spent the past year deriding Abenonomics, saying it would "all end in tears" and that Japan was on the verge of a debt crisis, hyper-inflation, bond crisis, etc.

None of which has happened, of course, and if this recovery is sustained, it will be interesting to see how the critics respond.

It is simply another bubble. How can the first capitalist country in the history of the world with a shrinking population expect to have sustained growth, when economic growth depends on more people consuming ever more energy?

"Ummm, where are all the Abenomics detractors? Sure is quiet…!"

This guy is delusional. Abenomics can be great for big corporations and the government, but for most of Japanese people, it will be bad news. It’s going to be rich getting richer, and poor getting poorer. Inflation is not going to be good for everybody, unless your income and savings grow at higher rate. Whatever you have now, it’s being devalued. Whatever you are making now, you are getting a pay cut at the rate of Abenomics. Wait a few more years and see where you stand. Good luck!

@Warispeace.

Yes the population is shrinking, that's why Abe is pushing hard on this- > "Womenomics" . Trying to get more women in the workforce. I think there should be a positive effect for the country as a whole.

Imagine this... Left hand = women Right hand = man.

Right hand always do the writing all the time. Left hand do nothing (except maybe hold the paper). I say it's time to train your left hand to do the work as well... Don't underestimate the talent of women. There are some real talents out there.

@Slamdunk

"Womenomics" . Trying to get more women in the workforce. I think there should be a positive effect for the country as a whole.

If we consider that the goal of capitalists is always to increase profits, usually by reducing labour costs, we have to imagine that the reason to get more women into the labour pool is to keep enough supply so that wages can be kept low. Also, we know that women are paid less and many are temp workers, so this will also lower labour costs. Not sure how this is good for the country as a whole, but it is sure good for Abe and his elite friends.

I dont think anybody is hoping for doom and gloom; we've all experienced enough of that, we are just living in reality. The majority of people working are in contract postions (keiyaku) and those positions never see any raises. If your a young person on track in a big corp, then yes, youll see your bonus and raises. The rest? where are the stats on them?

Great when a plan shows results isn't it, Abenomics is on track it seems.

The detractors smithjapan, dog and a few others have been silent over the last month or two since things have been shown to be on the up n up.

LOL.....there are lots need to be said behind this headline, but I do not want to suggest any. Whatever.......hopeless people never want to wake up.

"How can the first capitalist country in the history of the world with a shrinking population expect to have sustained growth,"

Why not? The world's highest level standards tend to be in countries with small and slow-growth/stagnant populations.
