How scared they are by the fact that China is going to take over chip production in their Taiwan province..

This tells us more about the geopolitical state of the world than trade and investment. I warned 15 years ago that globalization would create these kinds of serious national security risks.

If the location is Hiroshima, I hope they build it on high ground, inland. That area is projected to have serious tsunami damage in the Nankai Trough Earthquake projections. Same goes for Mie for WD and Kioxia.

The autonomous nation of Taiwan is already one of the world's largest producers of microchips, second only to China.

Globalization failed by shifting the "entire" manufacturing centers to a single location.... China, Vietnam, etc.

Now we're seeing the consequences of that.

A far more sensible approach, is to distribute Production, which is a win win situation for all.
