The mercantilist vassal state can celebrate finally! In return for its geo-political servitude, it is allowed special access to the overlord's economy and resources. What a great deal!

Japan dependency of natural energy and fuel is too much and high. Japan is 6th biggest country with the water around, many energy resources discovered under the sea,...and what's this? Abenomics on the way!?

Surge' urge tax up. I urge a pay rise, I urge for decent food choice. Seems my urges don't count. I should urge more and hope for a SURGE.

Our order book is full. For the first time we have had to institute a waiting list for customers prepared to except a delay on service completion. Our US customers have even offered pay a fee to jump the queue. Fingers crossed demand doesn't melt away.

" Japan's Trade Surplus Surges"; Yeah, of COURSE it does, because as SOON as anything IMPORTED starts SELLING WELL ( US & Aussie Beef ) you jack an ADDITIONAL 50% Import Tax on it!

Economics 101 in Japan.

@Itsonlyrock: I can honestly say I have NEVER agreed with anything you’ve written, but I wish you wind in your sails and make that hay while the sunshines!

Well YongYang, there is a long queue that takes exception with my opinions in word and conversation, some even take umbrage, so you are not alone.

Maybe the day will come when the line of people will pass by your window. In the mean time I can only strive to be as gracious, popular, and respectful as yourself, who disagrees but prefers discretion over valor. Or is that silent approval?

The success of the company is due to the loyalty and dedication of the staff, that are deservedly well rewarded. Thank you

Where you see queues and lines we see throngs and masses, hordes of many bearing disagreement, soaked in objection, but those that carry differences as rabid infections can keep over there, in the cages. Discourse, differences are important and I’ve got a big tent, echo chambers have never been my thing and neither has silent agreement, I tend to turn the volume up there, so sorry to break the delicately painted imagery. Great to read of someone having an excellent approach to staff, keep that cash till ringing.

Good luck, YongYang, no sarcasm intended. I am sometimes forthright, and it has alienated people that have later told me they agreed with me but my lack of contrition was intolerable.

Sensibilities sometimes override sense, if people agree, they shouldn’t put agreement under threat by conditions such as, ‘You must speak in a way we deem polite’. Either agree or don’t, I say. It’s certainly most likely a key factor as to why you own a company, and those that bemoan don’t. You too, keep riding lady luck. (Not that I actually believe in it as a ‘force’, but certainly can recognise the sentiment).

Based on what was shown on NHK news tonight, it looks like the US is using the NAFTA negotiations to take direct aim at Japanese auto makers.

My impression is that there is also a issue with dispute resolution. Trump is not a calm reasoned individual where NAFTA is concerned it is all or nothing. Mexico and Canada negotiators will struggle, Canada lead negotiator is threatening to walk away.

The timing is lousy, with Trump needing a win to counter his lack of experience in dealing with PR and diplomacy. That appalling public display when dealing with right wing white supremacy is an example.

How this affects Japan business bottom line after supply chain exports to support large factory car production investment in Mexico is going to be difficult to gauge. The irony about free trade deals, is free can be illusionary.

YongYang, I think demeanor is important in Japan business and even family. Seniority taking precedence. I have stumbled on stony ground in this area too.
