This reminds me of the time Toshiba sold the Soviets some very special restricted technology milling machines that allowed them to manufacture much quieter submarine propellers, which soon made Soviet subs much harder for US and Japanese naval forces to track.

Sumitomo Heavy pledged to enforce thorough oversight of its subcontractors moving forward.

What a joke. If they hid from their subcontractor the fact that the components were for weapons, it's completely Sumitomo Heavy's fault. Trying to blame the subcontractor, who were simply trying to provide the best cost estimate, is a typical salaryman ploy.

Where are the indictments? Another bow in front of a camera and all is forgiven?

Why does Japan continue to hire Chinese nationals in areas of National sensitivity ?

Most are aligned to the CCP. And as such have to do what the Party dictates or face repercussions back home.

I don't know about Japan but that isn't the case in the US where there are lots of Cantonese speaking Hong Kong emigres and their children plus equally large numbers of Taiwanese and their American born children all of who hate the CCP. My wife is from Shanghai so she has a distinct accent in Mandarin. Sometimes we go to restaurants owned by Cantonese speakers and once they hear her speak even in English they refuse to serve us. I watched a Vietnamese merchant one day throw my wife out of the store. They don't know our family history or how much she and the rest of the family suffered under Mao. If they did they would bring out platefuls of their best food.

@Desert Tortoise..... equally large numbers of Taiwanese and their American born children all of who hate the CCP.

Doesn't matter how much you hate them, if you have relatives or friends there, they have leverage.

That is an old racist canard that needs to die. The CCP has no leverage on a Hong Kong emigree or their family. Likewise Taiwanese. If you look at the bio's of all the people the US has convicted of spying for China none did so because their relatives in China were threatened. The Chinese who grew up here as US citizens have no attachment to China. They are culturally different. The Chinese do not consider them to be Chinese, they are seen as Americans now. Their language, their world view, their culture are all different. China no longer has any call on their affections. Even my stepdaughter who was born in China but who came to the US as a little girl and is thoroughly American is seen as an American on our visits to China (and btw, she has said she never wants to go back, has very harsh things to say about the Chinese). This lie is the same racist tripe that led to American citizens of Japanese heritage including citizens born in the US to US citizen parents interned for the duration of WWII. It has no basis in fact and you need to stop telling this lie.

This is why Japan won’t get the YF-23.
