JFE Engineering to accept interns from Myanmar

JFE Engineering will start an internship program this summer in order to train future engineers from Myanmar.

JFE has a significant presence in Myanmar, which has one of the fastest growing economies in Asia. JFE has received contracts for its bridge construction technology.

However, Myanmar faces a lack of human resources in the engineering field.

JFE will take up to 10 interns from one of the top engineering schools in Myanmar -- Yangon Technological University -- for a 2-month-long internship program in Japan, according to the Nikkei Shimbun. Airfares and living expenses will be fully covered by the company. The selected candidates will do their internships at plant construction sites.

JEE said it hopes that the interns will eventually become elite engineers who can lead Myanmar's future economic growth.
