Japanese railway system is definitely the best in the world. Good Luck!

The distance between Tokyo and Odawara is approx. 100Km making it 14 yen per Kilo, not that expensive if you think it that way.

I might as well take my friend's kei-car econobox with cash price expressway fares.

Couldn't agree more. Just to go one station (which is less than two minutes in most cases), it's ¥170 on the Toei lines - which are government-owned (and are by and large inferior).

The distance between Tokaido-line stations are long. That's why even the local to Atami is bloody fast

Good on ya JR East, but I hope the Bangkok's network doesn't cost as much as it does over here. The basic fare for Tokyo-Odawara one way costs like 1,400 on a weekday? Why are they still charging Bubble-era fares? like, do those train drivers still get paid bubble-era salaries?

Because bangkok's govt. is too lazy and slow @ expanding. Japan gets things done, quick. They dont sit w/ their thumbs up their ass all day. I currently live in bkk and bear witness to incompetent thai govt. everyday.

Bangkok already has three excellent but different rail services: Skytrain, MRT and the commuter line to the airport, with the a fourth SRT link in construction. Seems crazy to have 5 different services.

Why don't they expand on those existing lines?
