Build it, use it, break it, buy more and re build?

This sounds good but a quick look in any Lego store will show that at least 80% of the products are effectively themed models with lots of dedicated parts. They are more like plastic models to be constructed using instructions into a single thing, a snap-together Tamiya model with the blocky Lego aesthetic, rather than generic blocks to be used as tools of the imagination. The themes of these kits also tend to be trend and fashion-based, movie tie-ups etc. so that many kits two or three years old will already out of fashion. New Lego is not the timeless and unlimited by imagination toy it used to be.
