I would not call western society healthy.
With our high rates of obesity and the medical problems that goes with it.
Main problem with fast food is it's taste. It is too good and so easy to eat more than planed.

Lucky Russia if they thought Mcdonalds was healthy!

And Russia continues to close its doors to the outside world. Good luck at trying to attract foreign businesses back to Russia. Such is the life of a pariah.
kitts
Good riddance.

Hadn't considered the "better service" aspects that McD's brings. That part is interesting.
McD's was like the Ford Motor assembly line for restaurants. Consistency in service, taste and products. THAT is the real story here.
Go to any McDs in any country and the food should taste the same. Between different countries there seems to be something different about the beef taste, IME.
Being consistent is more important than being 1% better tasting. Just look at the burnt coffee that Starbucks sells. Same idea. They trained huge number of people to think they prefer burnt coffee - stuff that no reputable cafe would serve.

meanwhile YOUR country has the most restaurants after the US and more than any 2 European countries!
HAHA!

Putin probably told McDonalds to get the heck out of Russia asap.
I find it extremely difficult to believe that McDonalds would pull out .

In the St.Petersburg Business Forum in June, the main Russian business event of the year, will take part companies from more than 70 countries, incliding Japan and the U.S. Yeah, that's the true life of a pariah, rrright.

I'll bet it will be McPutin's.
A Canadian
And McPutin's menu will feature the Big Vlad.

The world moves ahead forward as Russia goes full speed backwards. The old Russia has returned. What a pity!

Very bad for them.
Exiting the market comes with a cost, too. Russia and Ukraine generated around 9% of Mcdonald's revenue and represented 3% of operating income prior to Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February
So it is a tremendous loss for both Russia and McD as a source of revenue

Don’t you read or watch other news? The name will be changed to Dyadya Vanya, Grandpa Vanya, therefore the logo and design is similar but turned clockwise so the M looks like a 3 or to be more correctly like a B , standing for Cyrillic B , spoken V, that of Vanya. Also the burger menu and drinks remain more or less unchanged. So maybe it’s called DV burger or Vanya burger, who knows… But I still haven’t heard what the original Coke is replaced with. Anyone from Russia here who could give us a clue? lol

Russia should pay for it with the dollars the American government has stolen.

That's one opinion, but to millions and business investors, the company has been nothing but a historical global phenomenon and the best part is, they were the ones that started the international fast food chain that allowed their franchisers to tailor the restaurants to their cultural norms. The best thing about Capitalism in the global arena, is we have choices, you don't have to eat there, you don't have to like it, but the company is a powerhouse and each country and culture has made it entirely their own. Again, this is financially a huge revenue loss for the company and Russia, it's going to definitely hurt.

Starting to think someone just down votes upon seeing my Korean name. I said nothing political. Got some haters of Ronald McDonald and his character friends here.

"McDonald's to sell all 850 stores in Russia"
If Russia were all that America claims, they would already have been 'nationalized' like so many yachts and real estate we have heard of lately....
Perhaps it's just Hanguk saram who know their own history and know of one of the more notorious names in that history whose owner could be said to have created all, or at least most, of the pain we now see in the divided Korean People, Syngman Rhee.

Actually, the pressure for all American companies to disconnect from Russia has been huge. Plus, importing necessary items to maintain the restaurants at the levels McD's requires is next to impossible.
Inside the US, most McDonald's are owned by small businessmen as a franchise. In Russia, all the McDs are corporate owned.
The point of eating McDonalds is consistency and speed. Outside North America, I don't think they are very cheap.
Eating at typical American restaurants outside the country tends to be much more disappointing than eating local foods, though there are a few exceptions in certain countries.
