That's opening up a can of worms... I'd hate to be the one who has to review those complaints to filter out the legitimate ones from the.... well, stupid-@ss ones.

This is great. As soon as I get some cold fries and they try to give the customer the run-around just pull out your smartphone.

Instantly complain!!! You've been reported! Fear a call from head office.

McDonald’s Japan is to launch a new smartphone app for customer complaints

Better have lots of capacity. With sales down 39% in January, there must be a lot of problems out there.

I feel sorry for the frontline staff who will be the target of abuse. People are going to start making crazy anonymous complaints days after the fact about incidents which no-one can even remember, let alone defend themselves against.

Apple has the same issue, they really only care about the profit.

MD's is only good for the ¥100 hamburgers. Bring it home, put on a slice of cheese, toast it and eat it. Why pay ¥350 for a cheese burger?

Good idea, but now that Burger King is expanding (next month opening its first store in Kyushu) there will be more competition. BK definetly makes better quality burgers and if Miki-D's wants to stay relevant in the food market industry in Japan and worldwide, they need to make some dramatic and serious changes.

I have a web browser "App", I don't need an App for posting complaints to McDonalds, do I? Can't I post complaints to them via the web? I am unusual in not wanting an App eating up my bandwidth and storage for every last little task on the planet? Sorry for all the questions.

as it looks to turn the page on a series of scares including the discovery of a human tooth in some fries.

Somehow I don't think an app will solve that problem....

@fxgai AGREED. The fashion to make an app for any simple task is getting out of control. I'll make that my first complaint to McD.

The app will get lots negative feedback. And Mc D's WILL NOT change their core menu. Japan needs to open up to tastier & bigger burgers ie; Carl's JR, In-n-Out Burgers, Tommy's Chili-Burgers etc . . .

Seems like that they need bigger changes than creating a new app.

Complaints usually fall on deaf ears in Japan, more often than not they're non-existant in a 'shouganai' society. With that in mind, I can't see this changing much, if anything.

After owning a smart phone for two years, this will be my first App.

The best way to show your opinion is to avoid their products all together , as more people are.

Like the NYPD attempt at this, it will engender a flury of trolling...... this won't last long.

McDonalds sales have been down worldwide. Their main problem isn't with food quality or service, their main problem is that the competition has stepped-up THEIR game. McDonalds used to be the ONLY game in fast food breakfasts, now they're just one of many chains offering breakfast. Here in the U.S., even TACO BELL has started serving fast food breakfasts!

good god, an app to complain.... I can only imagine the real time personal data they want to capture....
