Starting Monday, McDonald’s Japan will introduce a Value Lunch Menu that allows you to eat cheap during the midday rush. A Big Mac or Chicken Fillet and a small drink will only cost you 400 yen.
You can also get a Teriyaki McBurger, Double Cheeseburger, or Filet-O-Fish Set with one side menu item and a medium drink for only 550 yen. In the end, you’ll actually only save 50 – 80 yen total, but any savings are worth it, we suppose.
Lunch time starts at 10:30 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. The menu won’t be available at every McDonald’s in Japan, so make sure to check your target McDonald’s before you go.

Sensato
The headline of this article claims that "McDonald’s Japan to introduce a super cheap Value Lunch menu," but the article goes on to say that the savings are only 50 to 80 yen (roughly 15%). A bit misleading.

Agree w/ Sensato. What a mismatch in content and title. Terrible click bait.
The "super value lunch set" should be lowered to 300 yen.
My cheeseburger is 129 yen. Double that if I'm still hungry for another and it still only comes to 240 yen. Add a drink to that to bring the total up to 300 yen then I'd consider it "super cheap" and worth ordering.

Yea I agree with the previous sentiment as well. Complete click bait. I thought they were going to start offering American prices on the McDonald's menu in Japanese yen of course.

Does McDonald's need or deserve free advertising?

A fillet of fish set is normally ¥610 with a side and a medium drink. This 'super cheap' deal is ¥550 without a drink. It's not cheaper at all! If you buy a drink it will cost an extra ¥150 making this deal more expensive than a normal set. It's media propaganda BS!

McDonald is bad enough when the food is expensive. Wonder if this is the new program for assisted suicide.

People in Venezuela ate starving, and cannot feed or afford to feed their dogs. Can you imagine watching your own dog starve?

Edit: "My Mac cheeseburger is 120 yen."

Yeah, but you can't buy a cheeseburger set anymore in Japan if you're an adult. Only children allowed to buy it. How screwed up is that?

I think warispeace meant "when advertising becoms news," but it could be a double reverve war is peace kind of inverted, esoteric thang.

"Lunch time starts at 10:30 a.m." Uhm, yeah, that's a pretty early lunch

Super size me!

How about a meal for 100 yen? A smaller size burger is fine, just give small fries and a small drink.

Junk food is hazardous to your health. Just say NO!

400 Yen is still too expensive for those who work on minimum wage. Many of these workers have to limit themselves to food under 200 yen- noodles for example. I remember some years ago that workers at a factory were horrified when I used to buy 120 yen drinks out of a machine and they were on a better wage.

What is the true cost of Mac cheapness to the environment and health of consumers, especially children? And what is the true cost to democracy when "news" becomes advertising?
