More than 2,800 food, beverage items to cost more from April

The prices of more than 2,800 food and drink items will be hiked in April, the largest increase in six months.

According to Teikoku Databank, the price increases are mainly due to higher costs of imported raw materials, the weak yen and higher transportation rates.

Morinaga & Co will increase the prices of products such as Chocolate Ball and Hi-Chew, while Fujiya will increase the prices of Milky and Country Ma’am products.

Nippon Ham and Ito Ham will raise the prices of ham, bacon, sausages and frozen foods. Kikkoman will also increase the prices of tomato ketchup, sauce and various condiments and spices.

Some companies are reducing package and bottle sizes rather than hike prices,

Apart from food and beverages, prices of paper products will also increase. Daio Paper, Oji Nepia and Nippon Paper Crecia will raise the prices of tissues, toilet paper and other paper products.

In other industries, delivery companies Sagawa Express and Yamato Transport and Sagawa Express will increase parcel delivery fees by up to 7%.

the statement is true, the way you spin it is argumentative.

Was I wrong? And if so, how?

They will make money in Japan and run back to their undeveloped country and live comfortably with that yen but people in Japan and foreigners from developed countries are the ones who will suffer and lose the most!

This isn’t a new thing, the yen has been in the dumps for ages now and stagnate wages have been common across Japan for years. I have no sympathy for people choosing to stay in Japan and complain when they could easily go back to their countries and make much more.

We need another pay raise. Two pay raises a year… sound good to me.

Just have a little more trust and don't cry like babies. Don't always worry too much, they need you all to work for them and generate their profits or / and as valued consumers. You won't starve and you also can eat the cheapest hamburgers or cupmen with full trust, so that you can regenerate your body functions and also tomorrow morning fill the subways, offices and workbenches until late evening.

And in May the government will chuffaw and wonder why there is so much less spending, and more articles about how Japanese are feeling the pinch will increase. But hey, tourists are happy, so who cares about the suffering of locals?

Local farmer's market still sell sub 100-yen veggies, I think I've lost 10kg eating only fresh food this past years.

Cooking oil has shot up in price, just for anyone claiming this is all a junk food thing.

Never understood the need to so much tissue paper in this country. Don't use it and never have. And got those washlet thingamajigs on the toilets so don't need so much toilet paper. And yeah, time to go local as much as possible for necessaries, or grow my own, especially the basics like fruit and vegetables. Supermarkets mostly seel junk these days anyway.

Shop smart, do not by any fancy packaged gold wrapped processed Junk foods, stick with good old fashioned cooking of Meats & Vegetables and make your meals at home, it's safer, tastier, and Cheaper.

Importing inflation further worsening the stagflation. MMT in action with hyperinflation on the horizon. BOJ needs to wake up

I couldn't care less if all the junk foods like hi-chew and country ma'am went up, but paper items like tissues and tp going up is a huge punch to the gut.

I bet Kishida will be happy in his' goal to stop deflation.'

Meanwhile he has invited tons more foreign workers in to suppress wages.

Whose leg is he pulling?

This is all prompting me to buy non processed local foods more. Thankfully my beer has dropped in price.
