What an illusion we live under when our very existence only depends on consuming more and more...

I see people spending a lot more on loo rolls, soap, pasta, rice, flour, canned food, frozen food, bottled water...

...and there's that wretched phrase "abundance of caution" again. I hate it.

I have been going out and supporting my local mom and pop/friend's restaurants. They are grateful about that.

I do not want to see anyone's restaurant close up due to fear mongering. Personally I think this is getting out of hand as do the doctors and nurses that are part of my family.

Only until the older people dieing started to be noticed did it become an issue. I had it and the wife too after a nice vacation in Taiwan...and no, we did not get tested because they said no and Abe said no as well.. Dr. Abe.

Our symptoms were classical Corona 19. 2-3 weeks later fine.

I hope all of you out there go support your favorite restaurants, and local stores but do not buy things you do not need. This might be a good time to look in your cupboards and closets and decide what kind of consumerist do you actually want to be. Over consumerism is what is destroying the earth with pollution.

Over here in South Cal the markets are being swarmed with shoppers. Might not be irrational, since if everything is locked down in a few weeks, it would be nice to have plenty of the basics.

Seems like fewer people are going to restaurants, but the delivery services are operating.

Just cancelled dinner with the kids. Two are sick with fevers, and two are sick without fever. At least this thing seems not to affect the young so badly, so far.

Was in communication with a hotel operator in Rome, where we cancelled our reservations. She was very polite, but seemed stressed. Hoping for the best for everyone.

Are these places in in Hawaii? That’s where you said you were heading a couple of weeks ago. Or did you get taken in by the ‘fear mongering’?

I am flying to Hawaii from Japan where I live to surf for three weeks on the 7th. Will I be stuck there in paradise?

@blvtzpk I have relatives in executive positions through Hawaiian Air, so I travel more than often first class at a very cheap price. I was informed that if I stay three weeks there, there is a possibility as inside information is granted that I might have to fly home via Australia or New Zealand and it would be a hassle and that has proved to be true. So, when we chatted on FaceTime at the head office, I decided to just put it off for a bit. No big deal.

My wife did not want me stuck in paradise as we have fun times here and the weather has been great and KugenumaKaigan surfing is just as good although the water is not emerald green like Hawaii.

In other posts I said my wife and I came back from a nice vacation in Taiwan at the end of December and within a week had all the perfect symptoms or Corona. Knocked us for a loop and the cough part was very annoying. We got through it, so I was not worried about the "Fear Mongering" at all.

Hawaii has a lot of mom and pop places but they are not near the tourist areas and I hope and expect they are still doing well. Got some messages from several and they say all ok. I was talking about my local places here in Minamirinkan and Yamato. We are going to another place tonight and this week will hit a couple of more to support them. We do love cooking our own food but sometimes you have to get out there and support people an that is what we are doing.

Stay healthy and be positive.

Life is fleeting and fun. Enjoy it and thanks for your concern on my behalf.
