Sales of new automobiles in Japan, excluding minivehicles with engine displacements of up to 660 cc, fell 13.1% from a year earlier to 233,922 units in October, an industry group said Tuesday.
Passenger car sales dropped 13.4% to 202,572 units, according to the Japan Automobile Dealers Association.
Sales of cars with engine displacements of over 2,000 cc declined 21.5% to 87,675 units, and sales of smaller cars fell 6.1 pct to 114,897 units. Truck sales fell 11.4% to 30,261 units, while bus sales rose 6.8% to 1,089 units.
Separately, the Japan Mini Vehicles Association said that new minivehicle sales in October increased 6.2% year on year to 145,444 units, up for the first time in three months.© JCN
