If electricity comes from fossil fueled power stations what's the point of all this?

@ NeverSubmit, even if the EV is getting its electrcitiy from coal...it is still cleaner and more energy efficient. Electric motors are much much more efficient, while the combustion motor is only around 30% efficient and loses the rest of the energy as heat. Electrical motors are upwards of 90% efficient and the only losses in efficiency are due to batteries (charging etc).

As much as I am a fan of EVs in general, they should wait until they've upgraded their batteries for more range in civilian EVs and especially in commercial purposes.

Also why not have a charger for both standards? It's like having regular and premium in one pump and wouldn't take up much more space.
