Car makers know more about cars than those transport ministry officials.

Oh god, this isn't going to be the next reason to hold Ghosn now is it..
tinawatanabe
The test gives Transport Ministry more authorities.
Madden
Don't worry, I'm sure they'll find a way to blame it all on Ghosn!
kurisupisu
Yes, yes!
Blame Ghosn!
It’ all hi.........

Not in the Japanese vocabulary but one catastrophe then another catastrophe and oh my goodness another catastrophe then you add the former CEO held with no charges? Is there more? OOH catastrophe. My next car may not be a Japanese. Or German cheeper to get a 3D printer and just make one. Checking Amazon for a used Tank now.

I agree. To me, it is like a car being tested by a non A Grade mechanic. From my experience as a motor mechanic, those A Grade mechanics excell on the theories and exams but can be less competent on the practical ability of many non certified mechanics. I used to have the odd certified mechanics ask me how to do things.

So its their QA Department, but Nissan is a big company, can't they bring in someone from Sunderland ?

This looks to me that Nissan is having many problems in the Japanese company. First , the reports of Carlos salary package & his income by some , bad Japanese insiders, who now wants to be president and chairman. Then reports by employees that problems with their cars. If any employees have any problems inside Nissan...........why are these people Japanese or otherwise , not reporting it to their people before the problems really happened ???. I do not accept anything that say Carlos have the last word. Nissan have Japanese controllers, kansayaku, accountants a whole team of Japanese advisers, sales team, public relations, quality controllers, staffs affairs a whole team of Japanese workers. What are these people doing ???.do anyone mean to tell their share-holders
that all the people at Nissan is only good for wasting time, guchi , back-stabbing and not real work ???. What is the matter and who is the scape goat next ???

"Nissan is already under pressure after throwing its Chairman under a bus to avoid a merger with Renault"
Fixed it for you ;)

Just finished translating a New Years address for a customer working for the original customer, whose name was redacted in the original but whom I suspect was Honda. There was much emphasis on quality control and communication both intra-company and with affiliates. Let the people on the floor communicate both inside and outside the company freely and these problems would be vastly mitigated.

Another scandal!!???Say it ain’t so...but will anyone go to jail or will they just hold a press conference and bow deeply while the cameras flicker!

Nissan just sucks.

Carlos is gonna get served with a fresh arrest warrant for allowing this to happen on his watch!
talaraedokko
Renault, come on and just buy Nissan..not that I think Macron is a good substitute as leader.

Seen (at least) from outside Japan, this is a small scandal that contrasts with a great scandal of judicial practices of obvious psychological torture to obtain confessions from detainees: seemly people who applying historical judiciary practices of custody don't care about great negative impact on the International image of Japan.

Guess the next thing will be Japanese workers and leaders within Nissan solely blaming Ghosn for all the scandals:( Ghosn saved you Nissan, without him you wouldn't have survived!
Akie
Ghosn isn't perfect.
gogogo
Seems Nissan is the problem.

Nissan quality, durability and reliability under Ghosn regime sucked. Ghosn cost cutting legacy is this - you get what you pay for.
Nissan can no longer be mentioned in the same sentence as Honda and Toyota when. It cones to quality, durability and reliability. They’re now merely Hyundai-tier.

You know, everybody here says American cars are terrible, but the last huge fiasco like this I heard from an American car company was Ford's exploding tires and that was back in 2001...
I love Japanese cars and for the last 35 years or so that's all I've owned, but it sure looks like they need to get their act together.
Akie
extanker, if you love and own Japanese cars for last 35 years, why would you ask for a change ? Do you want to pay for buying a car, for driving a car, for repairing a car ? Or you want the car to depreciate fast, to have problems fast, to break down fast ?
Akie
Japanese want you to buy Japanese cars, no shame about that. But Japanese will not beg you to buy the cars. It is your money, it is your decision. Japanese do nothing wrong to produce cars, even bad cars.
Chop Chop
It was the result of extreme cost cutting policy and not enough skill employees to test and check the car in the Car Company. However, I don't think it's compromised quality and safety of the Nissan cars.
Carlos Ghosn has responsibility for that scandal as Chairman.
JeffLee
Yes they do. During the negotiations for the free trade deal with the EU, the Japanese pushed hard to get tariffs removed on Japanese cars. In fact, car issue held up for negotiations for a long time.

To answer your first question. Yes, I love Japanese cars, but eventually I would lose trust in them if all the major Japanese car companies continually face non-stop scandals. Wouldn't that bother you? Especially when some of those scandals involve safety inspections. It's pretty simple.
As for the rest of your questions, I have absolutely no idea what you are asking.
UlsterBoy
They will blame it on Ghosan, and that this will be used to extend his stay in detention...
