I hope they're gonna bring back the vinyl upholstered bench seats and heavy-duty white-wall tires too...

Its been long enough to forget the early ones here in America, and you certainly cannot find one, they dissolved into rust long ago.

This is a good idea. Maybe a revival of Datsun 240Z and 510. They were good cars.

what nissan needs to do,...is reproduce the 240z just the same as it was produced in 1970. just like what VW did with the beetle. a reproduction 240Z. i think a lot of people would love it all over again.....the 240z was the most iconic japanese car alongside the GTR. Reproduce it as it was in the 70s.

My mum had a Datsun Cherry (UK) back in the late 70's... It was a cool little town car. </http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Cherry/>

I was going to mention the great Datsun 240Z, the grendaddy of Japanese muscle cars, but these are still quite a few restored ones around. The Datsun 510 was called the poor man's BMW 2000, and is pretty rare nowadays.

Was a fine brand name. Known in my youth as a "dustbin".

Datsun 510 in car rallys was classic.

Had a Datsun 610 in the 70's. It was a tin can. Drove well, though.

I see this like how Nissan's European partner Renault is using the Dacia brand. For those who don't know, Dacia is Renault's low-cost brand, with its simpler cars that are made in Romania. Its flagship model is the sub-compact Dacia Logan for a price tag of 6000€ (¥635 365).

My favorite was the Z432 with 4 valves, 3 carburetors and 2 (twin) camshafts.

Cherry->Sunny->Almera->Tiida. How times passes.

Will they bring back the 120Y-Bother?

If the company has another brand focusing on very low-end market, it would be nice for Nissan to capture emerging demand because Nissan doesn't have dedicated brand that can focus on low-end market in the past. Looking at car market over the world, the most of hottest market is coming from developing country. Therefore, such brand will make sense. In addition, since the brand for low-end market should need to be price competitive against rival like cars from Korea, it will speed up transfer of factories to another countries. Consequently it would also bring the competitiveness to Nissan by strengthening the base of factory.
