I don't know but how can you force an employee to give money back.

That is called blackmail. "Give my money back or I fire you"

And we all know it is just a facade, or more like a farce to the face of the world.

Japanese : give money back, or bow !

Foreigner : Go to prison, get tortured. If you don't confess, more torture...

I think Nissan should replace Saikawa as he is clearly not up to the job.

I'm sure you are right and the fact that he was handpicked by Ghosn in the first place shows that Ghosn was not up to the job either.

I totally disagree, saikawa should be fired. This case is not a over-sight. This case is a ' i will keep yr serect until time is ripe for me ' this is totally clear.Such people should be terminated. Being paid such a high salary while the rest of the Japanese employees put in their sweat and blood everyday ???. Then causing shame & loss of money to Nissan ???. how can any employees or share=holders or suppliers ever trust Nissan ever again ???.

Rotten at the top - all of them including Ghosn. Nevertheless, it’s the blue-collar workers at Nissan who work hard to do a good job on a daily basis to support their families who have managed to produce a decent product -my Nissan Dualis is 9 years old with about 120,000k’s, and it still runs in great condition. If Nissan’s reputation has been damaged, it’s the blame of those at the top that have mismanaged themselves, not the workers who have worked hard in the company - that’s a real pity.

Yup, that's the slap in the hand I expected for the deep throat. The gov't couldn't totally let him off scot free, it would make the gov't look bad.

Agreed this is the way they should have dealt with Ghosn, its just cos he's a foreigner, they deserve their profit drop, I will never buy Nissan again, and I see Renault wants to join with Fiat Chrysler instead.

If he knew about it, he was complicit and as such should be charged and removed from his position as Ghosn has been.

If the correct action is to ‘lower the salary’, then Ghosn should’ve received the same penalty.

I would think the appropriate action would be for him to resign or for Nissan to fire him. Ghosn may as well be guilty and if he is he should be punished. Furthermore the Nissan Board did not exercise due diligence to protect the shareholders.

This is becoming a real joke for Nissan, and Saikawa. How in the world can leadership of a Company with all the audits being done. Then to treat this man like he is being treated, keeping him from wife and family. How would anyone want to do anything in Japan.

Ghosn needs to be sent home to his on country and return to defend his honor, which I know he will do!

Nissan is a good company to work for. Know quite a few mid-level execs there who find it an excellent company. Ghosn brought shame to Nissan.

I'd love to see a poll of all the foreigners in Japan about whether they'd ever buy another Nissan. Not to mention any friends or family back home who we're telling to boycott the company. I dunno, maybe it's not the best PR for a manufacturer dependent on overseas markets.

Unbelievable, couple of bows, sorry and return some pay... why does this guy get off so lightly... as most of us have said all along Ghosn guilty or not can't have done this by himself. When will Japanese Execs in the various Tepco, the building scandals, the car scandals be held accountable!
