Are they talking about the 510? I recall it came in both sedan and station wagon versions.

In high school had a 1971 Datsun 710 station wagon ..that must have been about 15 years old at the time. It had a small crack in the windshield and smelled of mold... but I got it for $75 dollars.. so I can't complain. I think it looks rather cool now.]]

"the absence of rigorous safety standards.........will also help keep the price down"

Developing countries have some of the worst road death rates. I'm sure the locals will really appreciate Datsun's thinking.

Wrong step! Agree with SwissToni, they should build an Infinty kind of image, Tata is already selling crap and low budget buyers are good with them! Providing more safety options should be priority in such country full of worse road accidents. This image will help them in longer run....but who cares if people die? Mr. Ghosn cares of his annual package.

Better off launching the Renault Qatre refit with contemporary safety equipments ? If not cheap enough then the 2CV ( licensing from Citoeon.

They will get killed if they think they can make by eliminating safety.

In poorer countries, people can't afford safer cars regardless........ nor care about safety that much.

If they sell the GTR at $3,000, I'll take a couple.

In 19/70 you could buy a brand new Datsun 240Z for $3400.
