I think they'll go ahead with the new investment. They will still have 2 years from when Article 50 is implemented before any real change occurs. That will be March 2019 at the earliest.
Ultimately, it will be whether the UK has a tariff-free relationship with the EU once it leaves. There is no way to stay in the single market and leave the EU.

While I understand big biz's concerns, but how can they drop by #10 for a chat but your average man/woman on the street just has to take whats served & LIKE it...............

so basically they're asking for tax rebates to counter any import duties that the EU impose on UK exports. either way the EU will look at it as unfair trading practices and impose higher tariffs in retaliation, EU would be crazy to allow 0% tariffs on import vehicles, they'd be better offering Nissan tax credits to setup factories within the EU effectively taking away these same jobs the UK is desperate to keep. Whichever way you look at it the EU will make being within the EU more advantageous than not, otherwise why would any member want to stay. Brexit is going to be a very expensive debacle for the UK economy in the coming years, lets hope their so-called sovereignty will be worth the cost.

Nissan have been at Sunderland a long time so it won't be easy to replicate the setup they have there. I believe they've even had port facilities built for them.
They've benefited from a whole host of subsidies and benefits over the years, so this latest move is probably an attempt to get more out of the UK government and simultaneously try to get somewhere else to make a better overall offer. Such negotiations will have all the usual tactics like bluff calling and bait and switch.

The decision is taken. Unlike the politicians, all the business managers had a plan in case the Yes would win, and they also have communication plans to announce their departure progressively and softly. It's obvious that Nissan is currently negociating for new factory places (Romania is becoming very 'hot' for automative industry).... and trying to minimize the losses with the UK venture.
Perfect opportunity for them to "not replicate" and do something new with different technology (like self-drived electric vehicles). Maybe they'll keep a little line in UK for the left-sided vehicles on the local market, particularly if May bans car imports and gives Nissan public contracts (can they do school buses ?).
You average Brit on the street has voted. They can't ask foreign (or even domestic) businesses to accept a drop in profits due to their choice.

Why not going to Ireland , Spain ? Or more like it's said more to the east in Poland , Romania , Bulgaria ? thats exactly what the EU is aiming for. Sovereignty isn't free, as the UK will find out in the coming years. The EU will ensure that if your selling products in the EU youll need to invest in the EU

Manufacturing will gradually move away from the UK to mainland Europe; the pound will become increasingly worthless; unemployment will rise and wages decrease. But at least the UK will be free from Brussels! Hooray! That will teach those Europeans a lesson they won't forget.
If May were to ban car imports there wouldn't be any new cars once all the manufacturers have left. I laugh when I read pro-Brexit comments like "the EU will have to give us a good deal because we are a big market for them" and "Germany sells 8% of its cars to the UK so they won't impose tariffs on us" etc. The EU won't have to impose tariffs because nobody will be making cars in the UK. If the UK puts a tariff on imported cars it will only hurt UK consumers and make the country even less competitive. Either way, the UK has no negotiating power whatsoever.

The political consequences were always going to trump, now there's a thought, the immediate economics.
Referring to Ireland, North and South, Brexit will be a disaster. The turmoil will be unprecedented. Every area/sector will be affected.
For UK maybe the process of leaving the EU, after decades of being inextricably linked will prove inseparable. It is time to admit we all will have to settle for bunker brother belligerence. Don't betray Ireland.

yes they will most probably build the next generation here in the UK, the local tax payer will subsidise it. the middle class will pay for everything. the illiterates who vote to exit and the right wing Nazis who put themselves before the country
