Junk food.

Best food ever invented to prevent starvation during the hard times. I practically grew up with it during my school days.
Not to mention Nissin help a lot of countries worldwide and help prevent starvation in poor countries.

Does it have much nutritional value, or is it just a stomach filler? I have never needed to use it myself - I feel grateful. But if it's true that it can save the poor in hard times, it's probably a good thing.

And they're still awful, even by instant noodle standards.

I thought Korea's Shin cup noodles were top but good to know Japan's Nissin at the very top.
When you really really need to ear this cup noodles, don't forget to add can fish (preferably mackerel)

Looks like they are becoming smaller than a normal cup…

I think I'm responsible for maybe 78% of those sales.

My wife too. She's probably wondering who ate the other 49 billion.

Useful when you're late and can't cook without making too much noise because it's too late. Time ago I always kept a couple in the kitchen as plan B. Yes it's better not to use the seasoning packet, but eating one a month you won't die. With my wife we have fun making fresh noodles then freeze it in small portions x2. You can prepare many of the seasoning by yourself, youtube is full of such videos. I don't know if it's cheaper but it's fun and healthy.

Agreed.
50 billion single-use polystyrene cups thrown out. Not something to be proud of.

I equate to Kraft Mac-n-Cheese which was something I had to develop a taste for. I did not care for it when I was younger but now I like it.
As for Cup Noodles in general, I like the original flavor. I don't care for all of the "other" flavors they came out with over the years.
Someone earlier asked about nutritional value - there is none. Minimal at best. But it's meant to be a "snack" (a quick stomach filler) and not something to eat as a primary source of food.
It is affordable and I am not ashamed to say that I stocked up on it during my college years (1985-1988) and that always keep a few in the pantry to this day along with spam. :-) I know both are not healthy but I don't eat them regularly. Actually I tend to eat more Mac-n-Cheese these days...

I wouldn't have had dinner many nights without cups of ramen noodles. I never borrow and when times were hard ramen was often all I could afford so you will hear no criticisms of this from me.

The cheese sauce that comes with Kraft Mac-n-Cheese is vile, I'd rather eat Cup Noodles every day for the rest of my life.

Well.. sorry to tell u this, but you are completely wrong.
nisshin is actually using paper cups, and only small part they use biomass plastic which is made from plants. instead of throwing 50billion poly cups out and get complained by someone like u guys.
better to go research first, before you blame something big.
