Buying and crying, why did Nomura acquire toxic assets from Lehman?

Among the main causes of the annual loss was 230 billion yen in expenses for acquiring operations... from Lehman Brothers, the storied U.S. investment bank that collapsed last year.

Ouch!!! Thats gotta hurt.

Yes, they will be in a nice position if things recover, and the weight of the purchase doesn't sink the boat!
