Yeah, I get it. My company has insurance for us, and my beneficiaries will receive a settlement if I die traveling to and from work. However, they don't specify what is considered an acceptable form of transportation.
I wonder if it is people abusing the teiki reimbursement, or people getting drunk then riding home by bicycle and having accidents.

Yes, I'm intrigued too. What on earth is the reason behind their thinking? You might improve your health? They don't want you coming in with your shirt soaked in sweat?
I've done the opposite and brought my bike indoors. I cleaned it but never took it out again because I decided to walk everywhere, for shopping, gym and to work whenever it is required. I started gaining weight at the start of the state of emergency so I thought walking instead of cycling would be better. Walk about 6k every day, sometimes well over 10k. Not sure how much longer I can keep it up as the weather gets hotter.

Do you work for some weird Eikaiwa or dispatch company?

@ Jax
what kind of company is that!?!

Good news on more people pedaling! Anything that results in burning less gas and oil is a positive.

More one-way streets and fewer traffic lights...please!

Tokyo really needs to get with the global programme and make its streets way more cycle and pedestrian friendly. Close 20% of streets to traffic, Koike-san. It's eminently doable.

Yet at the company I work for I was told to stop commuting by bike after being caught red handed as it is against company rules...
