If you're a Contractor / Temporary Staff, then yes, you can expect your Company to say Good bye - regardless how hard you work.... it's simply a Cost thing, nothing to do with you.

We have not let go of any of our contractors. It's industry dependent.

If you're a Student leaving University and looking for a Job - I feel pity for you. But, perhaps this is an opportunity for you and your friends, who may together have Wild ideas that simply Big Companies would not accept - so why not plan together ... instead of playing Games all-day, and simply giving up, how about giving it a go! maybe, you will become the next big thing within Japan, and Globally ? Good luck - there's nothing that beats the enthusiasm of trying, again, and ... again, ... and again....

I wonder, Is there a Japanese version of GoFundMe that they could go to ?

Hell, remember the 100,000 agreed upon so that we can get it "swiftly"? The applications are still not available even after the delayed "mid-may" promise.

Actually I did receive my application for that this week, so those are at least out there (depending on one's city of course).

Still haven't received my Abenomasks though.

It's a shame the government STILL hasn't sent out stimulus where it's needed, but are hoping businesses go bankrupt first so they don't have to pay -- they could have mitigated such numbers. People still have to pay rent for offices and places they keep for business, but have been told to close. When appealing to the government as such some were told, "You didn't have to close; it was your choice. We only suggested it," and I'm quite sure if they go under the government will say, "Your business is no longer running, so you are not eligible for the small business assistance you applied for two months ago (or so)". Hell, remember the 100,000 agreed upon so that we can get it "swiftly"? The applications are still not available even after the delayed "mid-may" promise. How do they expect people to keep afloat, personally or in business, when the government won't expedite the process of helping them?

Up to 3.01 million jobs in Japan could be lost due to the new coronavirus pandemic in the year through next March

On the plus side, this means that the US has already lost 12 times as many jobs in just two months as Japan is projected to lose in the entire year. So bad as this is, it looks like the economic fallout (at least in employment terms) will be nowhere near as bad in Japan as it is there.

Yeah but apparently we can't open up until the possibility of anybody getting sick is totally eliminated.

You should follow the news about Japan a bit more closely, most of it is already opened up. There are some websites out there dedicated to news about Japan where you can learn more.

Too late, so many nations put a bullet in the head of the economy "to save lives." We'll soon see how that turns out.

I'd say the bullet was already in the economy's head when the Coronavirus started spreading out of control in most places. Not sure how you think the economy of Italy, Spain, New York ,etc was supposed to function normally with 10s of thousands of people dying and their health care systems being overwhelmed.

That's a low-ball estimate.

Thanks, communist Chinese government, thanks a whole lot.

Better open up the economy with all possible precautions. Now would be a good time.

From my perspective, it Is best to be prepared now and Be Ready to your next opportunity. With new businesses and new technology like A.I. ~ many companies are currently looking for new specialists today!
