Fuel prices go up, instant fare rises. Fuel prices go down, fares are reduced gradually after months of inertia. Airlines lose a lot of credibility over their action/ inaction. JAL still sulking after losing slots to ANA, as compensation for the massive bailout that JAL received.

I’ve seen Ana’s cost cutting up close yet their ticket prices are double rival companies

Fly HND-CTS on both and you will see ticket price almost identical if not exactly the same. Skymark is always the cheapest one and Air Do sometimes cheaper than ANA too. So for me is no point to use ANA or JAL.
