If the raise is not 15% or more it’s not a raise. Between weak yen and inflation anything under is a pay cut. Paying someone hourly 100 yen more an hour or salaried person 10,000 more a month should not count.
CAPTAIN
Labor competition is the only thing able to significantly raise wages. But if a company know A-san will be there for life and not be poached by another company, then of course there is no incentive to raise A-san's salary to prevent him from leaving.

Surely that's ratio?

The only way to get proper raises is to keep switching jobs every 2-3 years.

No matter how number of companies who raise wages itself increase, that is still less than prices rising. and real wages don't raise.

Pretty sure that the raise, for 99% of these people, will comprise of less than the amount shown in the picture, on an annual basis.

"The government has been stepping up efforts to ensure smaller firms can follow bigger ones in raising pay, at a time when households are struggling to cope with the rising cost of living."
Gotta love how the government promotes itself through this instead of just, you know, dealing with inflation and lowering costs across the board. But nope... keep those costs high, BOJ and government, and keep jacking up the costs of living, and then praise yourself for asking people to sacrifice in order to try to drown a little slower.

My partner gets an extra ¥4000 a year now. Of course, since she drives to work and often has to buy lunch or dinner if she is working late or can't make and take it with her, cost increases are exponentially higher now than that whopping ¥4000 for the year.

Walking by a well known sushi chain yesterday the per hour was 1000 yen.
Not an earth shattering rate for clearing tables.

Those 1000 an hour jobs are in the majority now!
