No one outside of Commie China believes these numbers.

I haven’t seen much surging in Japan so far....

I wanted to “export” some tuna cans to the folks in the US yesterday, but EMS are not accepting packages. Unbelievable. Had to send it by ship. Meanwhile I’m still getting allot of my remodeling materials sent to me from the States.

What’s up with that?

How much of this is food imports into China because they can't produce it themselves?

China has had crop failures, massive flooding, storms and insect infestations, and swine flu this year and is struggling to meet basic food requirements.

They've even started a "Clean Plate Campaign" to try and cut down on foor wastage.

There is zero need for a formal boycott of Chinese goods, nor do we need tarrifs.

What we do need is a grassroots campaign for people to re-consider their purchases. Instead of buying new cheap stuff from China, why not buy something well made second hand? Targeting waste is an easy way to redirect funds from countries that operate concentration camps.

Additionally, policies to ensure that as much PPE & equipment for healthcare and disease control is made locally and meets requirements for efficient recycling.

I am living in HK and have many relatives/friends in Mainland China. Yes and there were crop failure, flooding…etc but they are all solved. Be aware of reading Washington Post/BBC/DW, there are a lot of biases on reporting China.

Compared to the endless propaganda spewed from the 100% Communist-controlled media in China, the likes of the BBC are very fair. In Communist China and their dangerous police state HK, there is zero freedom, zero democracy, zero human rights, expressing opposition to the corrupt government will have you arrested and sent to the mainland, never to be seen again. Further, nothing is reported about the ethnic genocide of the Uighurs (worst since Nazi Germany), even the Tiananmen square massacre of thousands of innocent students has never been mentioned.

Communist China (HK included) is a ruthless dictatorship, a terrorist organization and a failed state. The economy is in complete ruin. Which is why the entire world is getting out, and all the intelligent Chinese have already escaped.

Whatever you are buying check where the item was made and then remember that China inflicted the Corona virus on the world and make your decision accordingly. If there is an alternative to buying "Made in China" then you should take it where possible.

So there is no clean plate campaign going on in China?

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-53761295

So China's wheat imports aren't at the highest level in 5 years?

https://www.forbes.com/sites/salgilbertie/2020/07/28/china-food-crisis-rising-domestic-prices-and-large-import-purchases-send-a-signal/#28504b9c1bcb

So China's pork imports haven't gone up 250% since the same time last year?

https://www.thepigsite.com/news/2020/08/chinas-july-pork-imports-reach-new-record#:~:text=January%20to%20July%20pork%20imports,tonnes%2C%20the%20data%20also%20showed.&text=Read%20more%20about%20this%20story%20here.

So multiple natural disasters haven't befallen China in the last 6 months and severely affected food production?

You could argue biases in opinion pieces. However when many sources are reporting the same facts and figures, it becomes a little hard to claim that Western biases against China are involved here.

Where are your sources, apart from anecdotal news from your relatives?

China has been Japan’s largest trading partner for 12 consecutive years but Japan is only China’s fifth largest trading partner that means boycotting chinese goods will hurt japan itself much more than China. And dont forget China is Japans second largest food supplier also without Chinese food the food prices in Japan will rise significantly for a long period of time.

In using the double entry bookkeeping format, the numerical info about international trade is still more reliable than other indicators coming from China. For it also appears in accounts of trading partners so that you can easily cross-check.

Way to go China! Just shows what a well managed economy, with the benefit of all the population as its base can achieve!!

I don’t buy anything from China for years now. As soon as my wife and I see its made in China we leave it. No exceptions.

even the Chinese people buy as much they can out of China, certainly food , cosmetics, medicines and not because it is cheaper abroad.

every other economy should redraw production from China until they become a true member of the international society and learn that it comes with responsibilities
