Rohto Pharmaceutical holding 'I want Chu' Kiss My Lips Contest

Rohto Pharmaceutical Co has begun posting photos that passed the initial screening on a voting site (http://iwantchu.com/) as promotional activity for Mentholatum Lip Care, the "I want Chu" Kiss My Lips Contest 2011. The Grand Prix winner will be selected based on votes by the general public. Voting is open until June 30, with announcement of the winners scheduled for July 1.

Hosted by Rohto Pharmaceutical, the "I want Chu" Kiss My Lips Contest 2011 attracted as many as 1,800 lip photo entries for the initial round of judging. A swelling volume of comments on Twitter and other social media are fueling lip fever in Japan, including users who have become completely immersed in the site to the detriment of work, and supporters of the popular "duck lips" look. In addition to prizes, the Grand Prix winner will also be featured as a model in upcoming ads.

As well as opening the door to overseas entries for the first time, a men's division was launched to mark the second year of the contest. The voting site can be accessed by smartphone, encouraging more people to share the allure of lips.

In addition to the voting site, a Twitter feed (@Rohto_fan) and a Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/Rohto.fan) have been set up. The Facebook page features photos of individual-looking lips that didn't quite make it past the initial screening.
